Touring caravans, motorhomes and campervans

What does caravan storage cost?

Storage is priced by the metre and by the postcode, so the same caravan can cost wildly different amounts to store ten miles apart. Six things move the number: outdoor, covered or indoor; how secure the site is; where it is; how long your van is; when you can get in; and whether you pay monthly or annually. Tell us what you have and storage sites near you will quote you directly.

What you are storing

What do you need to store?

Most sites price by length band, so this is the single biggest thing you can tell them up front.

  • Free, no obligation
  • Your details go only to the storage sites who reply
  • Takes about two minutes

The process

  1. Tell us what you are storing, how long it is and what kind of pitch you want. Two minutes, no account.
  2. We pass your details to caravan and motorhome storage sites covering your postcode, and to no one else.
  3. They come back with their actual price and availability. Compare, choose, or walk away.

Caravan Storage Prices is a free introduction service operated by Ellul Solutions Ltd; we pass your details to caravan and motorhome storage sites who contact you directly. We may receive a fee from providers; you pay nothing and are under no obligation. This is an independent guide, not affiliated with or endorsed by Cassoa, and we do not operate storage sites. Nothing here is insurance advice and we recommend no policy, insurer or product: how storage affects your cover is a question for your own insurer. Statements about the Cassoa scheme were read from cassoa.co.uk on 14 August 2026. We publish no prices because storage is priced per site and varies too widely for a national figure to be honest.

What sets the price of caravan and motorhome storage

Last updated

Six drivers explain almost every price difference between two sites. Work down them in order and you will know within a few minutes why one quote is half the price of another, and whether that difference is worth having.

No prices appear in this table. Caravan storage is priced per site and varies enormously by region, demand, pitch type, unit length and contract term, and there is no published UK dataset of storage prices we could honestly average. So we set out what moves the price and get you real quotes for your postcode instead. Statements about Cassoa are as published on cassoa.co.uk and were read on 14 August 2026.

What sets the price of caravan and motorhome storage
DriverWhat it does to the priceWhat to ask the site
Outdoor, covered or indoorThe biggest single step. Outdoor hardstanding is the base, a covered canopy costs more, and an indoor bay inside a building costs most of allWhether covered means a canopy or a closed building, and what the surface is
Security levelFencing, gates, barriers, CCTV, alarms, lighting and staffing all cost the operator money and all show up in the pitch priceWhether the site is accredited, and to what grade
Location and demandLand value and local competition dominate. Sites near large towns and near popular touring regions fill up and price accordinglyWhether there is a waiting list, which tells you more than the price does
Unit lengthAlmost every site prices by length band, because they are selling square metres. A 7 metre motorhome takes more space than a 5 metre caravanThe exact length bands, and which one your van falls into
Access hoursSites with staffed or restricted hours can run cheaper. Sites with 24 hour or automated access charge for the convenienceThe actual access hours, including bank holidays and out of season
Contract term and paymentAnnual contracts are usually better value per month than rolling monthly. Winter-only pitches are seasonal and often the cheapest way inWhat happens if you sell the van or leave early, and whether any refund applies
Extras on siteMotor movers fitted, service and habitation checks, valeting, water and waste facilities, and battery charging are sometimes bundled and sometimes chargedWhat is included in the pitch price and what is a separate charge
  • Caravan and motorhome storage is priced per site, and the main drivers are pitch type, security level, location and demand, unit length, access hours and the contract term.
  • Cassoa states that it is the UK accreditation scheme for secure caravan and motorhome storage, that it offers three levels of accreditation for site operators, Silver, Gold and Platinum, and that accreditation is based on a mandatory survey required every three to five years.
  • Cassoa states that its awards are based on a variety of security elements including CCTV, perimeter protection and alarm systems, and that the more points a site accrues, the higher the accreditation.

The questions we get

How much does caravan storage cost in the UK?

There is no reliable national figure, because storage is priced per site and driven by region and demand, pitch type, security level, unit length, access hours and the contract term. The useful move is getting two or three quotes for your postcode and your length band and comparing them line by line.

What is the cheapest way to store a caravan?

Usually an outdoor pitch on an accredited site slightly further from town, on an annual or winter-only contract. Widening your search by ten or fifteen miles often changes the price far more than negotiating does, because local sites near large towns fill up and full sites do not discount.

What does Cassoa accreditation mean?

Cassoa states it is the UK accreditation scheme for secure caravan and motorhome storage, that it offers three accreditation levels for site operators, Silver, Gold and Platinum, and that awards are based on a points matrix covering security elements including CCTV, perimeter protection and alarm systems. Accreditation rests on a mandatory survey required every three to five years.

Do I need to tell my insurer where my caravan is stored?

Insurers often ask where a caravan or motorhome is kept, so the safe answer is to ask yours directly before you book a pitch, and again if you move sites. Cassoa states its accreditation is recognised by insurers with discounts available, but what applies to your policy is between you and your insurer. We do not give insurance advice.

Is indoor caravan storage better than outdoor?

It protects better from rain, UV, tree sap and casual interference, and it costs more. It is also often the hardest to get the van out of at short notice. For a van used regularly through the season, a secure outdoor pitch on hardstanding is what most owners sensibly choose.

Is this quote service really free?

Yes, free to you, with no obligation to take any pitch. We pass your details only to caravan and motorhome storage sites covering your area; we may receive a fee from those providers, which is how the service is funded.
